Gun Metal Tacoma wheels (PICS!)

So here is what Iam working on:

I bought some tacoma wheels and tires:

Then I picked up some Duplicolor Wheels paint (Grey/Gunmetal):

After that I went to town on sading and preping one rim, and this is what I came out with:

Sorry for the crappy pics but all I have right now is my phone

** I'am going to work on the other three tommarow and post up some more pics after I get them all clear coated and bolted up. I think they will look good on my 4runner because mine is black with the grey flares and body molding.

That looks awesome. Give me some info on that. Does this last or is it going to be an annual thing? How much time per wheel?

X2. im thinkin of doing the same thing with my wheels instead of pc'ing em...but i want to match the flares. id like to see how the paint job holds up after a few hundred miles on em. im always weary of rattle canning wheels. will the clearcoat provide some decent protection from chipping?

maybe ill do it to my spare which is in dire need of a refinish..and see what happens.

Well It snowed here and the roads have gravel and salt all over them and they are holding up real well. They look pretty good still, Iam gonna was the runner today and I will give you a carnage report. The color is almost dead on with the flares.

As for the time I spent, The first one I hand sanded and really took my time on. I got sick of hand sanding so I too the wire brush wheels thing to them and that took the clear coat right off! About 3 or 4 coats of primer, 4 or 5 coats of paint, and like 4 coats of clear on each wheel. So they have plenty of paint! I have been wanting to do this for a while and I finally went through with it. Powder coat is too expensive, I spent maby 12 dollars all together. But I work at Napa Auto Parts so I get a killer discount on crap like that
