Fuel Tank Relocate?

This morning I went to our local 4x4 shop Called "Come get you some". I went there to ask what it would cost for them to relocate my gas tank to where the spare mounts. well I was turned down, they said they had never done that before and not interested in starting to cause it would be too much work to get it right. Ha! So what I am needing now is a list of parts, tools, and "how to" to do it myself. Thanks all!

IIRC a ford gas tank (what model evades me) will tuck in there pretty good.

Shoot Fillsrunner4 a pm, I belive he did this on his crawler.

manual hubs is an easy change, try searching. You will find loads about it.

as for gas tank i believe downey makes an aux tank kit for just what your talking about. this has been covered in a thread about a week ago. Again a search will bring that up.

I take it you have a body lift right? I remember reading a how-to on raising the gas tank but I cant seem to find it now. It sounded pretty easy. But you have to have a BL to use the stock tank.

Id love to do it to mine but I have no BL.

this is very popular to do in the mini truck scene. if you turn the tank sideways it fits right between the frame rails. you just have to extend the fuel lines and wiring to the back. but you also then have to figure out the filler neck location. i have seen a few guys cut a hole in the bed floor and put a motorcycle fill plug in the bed.

Might be a good time to go to a fuel cell. No, it is not as handy as having a tank filler on the side of your truck. However, it is easy to mount and might be safer than the stock tank.

I put a ford 19gallon in the rear. If you want to save cargo space its a pretty cool thing to do but if you dont mind a few cell from like summit would be nice and easier to maybe

Check it out here
my build thread
I actualy just finished the filler neck for it too.

why not a 19 gallon fuel cell from either jegs or summit racing and tuck it between the frame rails

I know very little about fuel systems... but do the majority of fuel cells out there work okay with fuel injected pressures... assuming there is any to begin with?

They do fine the pump takes care of the pressure and most tanks also use rollover valves also.

You could easily use a jegs or summit one and put it between the rails, I just found the ford unit to have the best fit and can tuck up high easily
