Satin Black Paintjob and Additional Lift

Planning on repainting my 2000 Limited 4Runner in a satin black (flat black with a hint of shine). Anyone know of any 4Runners with this? I'm also looking at going 2 inches higher (I have SAWs on the front adjusted to 2.5" and Downey 3" springs on the back). It has been a WHILE since my last post on here... probably 3 years. Spit whats on your mind.

Here are a few pics of cars painted satin black:

Go for it! I've always thought that color looks good! I would love to see it on a runner.

those look tasty...i likes. my truck would be a perfect candidate for that type of paint job with all the pinstriping. i say do eeet. post up some before & after. looks like it could be an easy DIY job too...since it doesnt have to be perfect. i recall seeing a few pics here of a slammed runner on flat black. paint looked good...sittin on its frame rails didnt.

why front lift 2" more? is there that much of a rake on it? if you want a bit more lift...crank your coils up 1.5 threads and add a bamachem top out spacer on it...

that would look sick, I love the look of satin black, on just about anything,

I just wonder if that would be any more expensive than a regular paint job?

Anybody know how hard this would be to do yourself? Any harder than a regular paint job?

BY FAR my favorite paint job ever. If i ever get to turn my taco into a trail only rig, then it will be either that black or camo

You beat me to it...reminds me of Rob Dyrdek's '07 UAV.

prolax13, I say go for it! I've been trying to talk my buddy into painting his '98 4Runner (w/ 200K miles on the OD) the same color

What up man?? Been a long time! Glad to see you still have your runner! My theory...

The paint job will look awesome, but with that aggressive look, your going to need to have the rest of the vehicle be agressive to match. Otherwise it could look like an un-finished project. The extra lift would definitely help. How often do you take your truck off-road? I would put a 2" body lift and a shrockworks bumper on there and call it a day. That thing would be KILLER looking. Damn... your making me want to do the same!

Looks like a $75K++ car with a 5 cans of Rustoleum paint job on it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the flat black look..My '84 was painted flat black for 4 years and I am contemplating doing it again on my '81....

I guess it would be hard to have a newer/nice car looking like it was rattlecanned...

I agree. While it does look good on certain cars, I can't get out of my head that it looks cheap at the same time.

I wonder what "Satin Lunar Mist" would look like...

I say go for it. I'm with Austin. 2" 4Crawler BL, a Shrockworks front bumper, and maybe some black AR Mohave Teflons. Oh man, I'm drooling thinking about it...

DO IT!

on a seperate note, hopefully my runner will be retired from trail duty at that time and it might have time to actually enjoy a fresh spray job

I looked into it about a year ago, and to be done right it would have been VERY expensive.

I don't take it offroad anymore. I actually haven't been offroad in it in about 4 years. Its good to hear from you again Austin. Its been a long 3 or so years since i was active on Yotatech. I love seeing YT stickers (and an infrequent 4Roc sticker) on guys rigs though. My goal is to get my rig looking really clean. I don't care to take it off road or have it functional. I'd rather do that with an old FJ. First on my list is the paint. Then maybe 2 more inches of height OR I might sell the SAWs and Downeys and drop it 2" below stock height (unlikely though). I'd also like to replace the lights and put 18s or 20s on there.

lol not trying to sound mean but your thought process is the opposite of what i think of a trail rig. I just thought most rigs become trail rigs with age when the newer ones replaced them. paint it now i say

If your paint is in fairly good shape you can have it wet sanded and shot with a SG clear coat.
