Gerdo, what's the SG clearcoat? Is that what gives it the "satin" finish?

My guess of the cost would be at least 5 grand or more.

My 86 fourrunner is painted flat black. And so are my wheels. I also have a 83 chevy steriod up for wheeling & its all flat black also. But ever since i started watching Rob & Big i have been wanting to repaint them that Satin black. I think its just tuff looking.

haha, granted it might seem backwards but right now it doesnt need a paint job, the thing still shines up real nice. now to answer why i would spray it in say another 3 years instead of just beating harder on it....

ive always liked older toyotas that still run and look good, i dont do anything THAT extreme but if i decided to get into rock crawling i would def. buy a beater.

my 4runner is paid off and a new 4runner will be taking over the DD duties in feb. so i can start fixing all the little things on my truck. my goal is to have this truck cleaned up and fixed up so i can have it in good shape for another 20 years or so.

Dyrdek's truck is definately more "flat" than "satin".
Satin for example:

when i bought my sport hood from the dealership it came in a satin black primer coat and i test fit the hood and left it for about a week, i thought it looked awesome. then i got it painted, and even though it looks nice and clean looking now that it matches the rest of the paint, i thought it looked a little more "mean" in the black.

i'm kind of regretting spending the money on paint now. i've always said that when my paint starts to go or the rust monster starts to win, i'm going flat black or camo.

Even if you don't like Jeeps, you gotta love this one!!! I love the "truck'' conversions on jeeps they look like an old Willy's truck.

And a satin black would look killer on a 4runner!

lemon pledge is the secret to turning flat black into a great satin black. My pop has a '50 gmc 5 window chopped and sectioned on a corvette c4 chassis and it's primer flat black. A 2 dollar can of lemon pledge and a little rubbing gives it an awesome satin look. the greatest thing about flat black- easy to touch up scratches. just buy a can from walmart and spray. If you're not too careless, you won't leave any runs. And most small runs dry up into nothingness anyway.

satin or flat black is a great colour kinda stealth fighter-esque. i ended up painting my lancer last year and am quite happy with the outcome. except in the sun! its freaking hot.

and for a kind of reverse mopar effect i left the hood black cherry. The chrome grill has since been replaced with a flat black one also along with the factory side skirts and front air dam.
