Biggest Speaker in Doors

So... My bazooka tube must go, my legs are getting too cramped. All i have now are the two speakers in the dash (rockfard fosgate) which definately need the sub to back them up, but like i said, it must go.... so... i was wondering what the biggest speakers are that you guys are able to cram in your doors with little or no modifications, (besides the obvious). 89 reg cab 4x4 w/wing windows.

thanks, josh

i once saw a guy with some nice, shallow-mount 6x9s in his door, but i'm not sure how much trimming he had to do...but it looked great and had nice bass. but why don't you just buy a shallow mount 8" or 10" sub and put it behind the seat?

I'd get a 8-10" and do like Mike stated. I'd also get some 5.25 or 6.5 components for the doors.

Or..... swap in bucket seats and mount the sub behind the buckets but in the middle or behind the passenger seat.

I had a JL 8W6 in front of the shifter under the radio...

You can fit whatever you want in the doors ... especially if you don't ever roll down the windows!

But seriously - depth is the only concern. A GOOD 6.5" is usually plenty though.

you could mold a c.f or fiberglass cabinet under the dash, or in the passengers kick panel.

you could hallow out a small shell, and simply use all the hidden space (as seen in many import rear-trunk/hatch areas.

i would look for some decent 3" v.coils and good specs. (something that hits below 40hz.)
