Could it be for fog lights you didn't get?

I actually have one too. I have no idea what it is for . It is not a fog light connector because I have put in fog lights from the factory and they are each one pink wire with a white tracer and one black ground. These are on both sides which are meant for fog lights, but this connector is on the drivers side above the foglight connector. Does the tranny cooler have a temp sender that this connects to? I have a 3.4 with the r151 5-speed year 2000 SR5.

CURSES you beat me to it!

It is indeed an ambient temp sensor. Typically the SR5 4runners didn't have it, the LTD did but they were all wired for it. You may just be able to put a sensor on there (bolted to the core support) and have it work.
