So heres my story so the past day or so when i ever i got on the throttle the engine would just like bog down and then 2 seconds later rev up real high, but i didnt really think of it as to big of deal so last night im going up this hill and it does it and then the truck starts shaking then all of a sudden i have no power and its like im in neutral i press on the gas and it just revs up. it still goes into gear and looking back it could have been the clutch slipping but i didnt think about it. So im pulled over and it kinda smells like clutch. Pretty much i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about what it could be.(by the way i have 88 runner with a '01 3.4L Supercharged and i have a centerforce dual friction clutch . I always try to get my foot off the clutch when im not shifting.

How old is it?

 

Pretty new, not to sure i didnt put it in i bought the rig with it but it cant be more than like a couple years old and it was hardly ever driven before i got it

 

How long have you had it? Have any idea how the vehicle was driven/treated by the PO? I mean, if it was abused that may explain things. Speaking of which.....how do you drive it? Be honest, now. It is a SC'd 3.4.

 

ive had it since like the august? It was driven very rarely and it was babied but like you said its a SC3.4 so im sure u can guess how it was driven, fast, hard i guess, i dont poke around town, i get up to speed very fast?Ya im taking it in on Thursday to have the guys who pretty much built the rig have a look see

 

Unless it's a defective clutch, riding it or dumping it all the time will cause it to go early.

 

I try really hard not to ride it and i never dump it but it could be defective who knows that i why i gotta take it in thursday

 

u must be taking it to G & A Wheel and frame? Branam or wayn would know what it is. U baught it from Doc. Flinders dident you?

 

Ya i did buy it from Craig(im dating his step daughter)so i got it for a super good deal. Ya wayne and branham built the thing so i took it down there i just got it back actually. The clutch is toast probably my own dang fault. Pretty much they gave me an estimate around 400 to install it and machine a new flywheel and some other parts and another 500 for another centerforce clutch. And my parents arent gonna help so i cant even do it till this summer when im on break, sucks so much
