im using skys front kit.it comes with the templates for the hole thru the frame mounts.if im going to have to do this with a hole saw would i first try to get a small hole thru the center of the large hole in the templates on both the outside and inside of the frame?once i had the small holes would i go thru the outside of the frame from the outside and the inside of the frame from the inside.is there enough room to get a holesaw thru from the inside of the frame?i know there is some ribbing inside ill have to tacke one way or another.

 

A pilot hole is probably a good idea. If you can get the pilot hole drilled from the inside, then my bet is your hole saw will work from there as well.

If you can barely get the hole drilled on the inside, it could still help. Just drill the entire hole from the outside. Once through the frame, and then the webbing inside... your pilot hole would help you stay lined up.

Get a few extra pilot bits for your saw. I have heard it's very easy to break them when you a dealing with the webbing inside.

If you know someone local skilled with a plasma, you can drive the truck over there and have them cut the holes before you ever start removing any of the IFS stuff.

 

torch a hole, you are gonna need a torch anyways to cut all that ifs crap off otherwise its gonna take forever

I almost broke my arm many times with that damn hole saw.... hole saw is a BITCH

 

Yeah i saw a really high power industrial drill catch while holesawing and it flipped my freinds dad right over. Go super super slow if you do the holesaw and pilot hole is a must

 

I actually tied the drill to my sliders (drill had a handle that screwed onto the top)
but it was still a BITCH

 

Use plasma... Easy and fast!

i did my whole sas with basic tools...u dont need a plasma or torch...

pick up some high quality cut off wheels from an industrial tool shop

I think a hole saw makes a cleaner cut than a torch anyways

I DID however rent a right angle drill just for this job and it was a piece of cake
