Differences between an 81 22r and 93 22r
I have an 81 pickup with a 22r. It has been slowly losing compression for quite some time. I decided I was going to pull the engine and rebuild it but got a killer deal on a 22re from a 93 2wd. The older guy I got it from had put it in a model-t but moved on to better things. He had gotten sick of the efi and swapped it out for a carbed manifold and a Weber but kept the efi ignition.
I have a few questions about putting this engine into my 81.
I am planning on bolting it up to my w52 in my 81. I believe I need to use my existing flywheel and clutch. Is this correct?
When wiring the ignition I know I need to hook up my hot wire and ground but how will I time the engine when there is no port to jump to stop it form advancing?
Can I use the 2wd oil pan and pump? I don’t think I would have much in terms of clearance problems but some people tell me I will?
How would I wire in my tach already in the dash to the new system?
