maybe a stupid question but what is "steering wheel lash inspection". Belt too loose, fluid level low? I hate living where there are zero inspections, feels like I'm missing out.

theres a little screw with a nut on top of your steering gear if you loosen the nut and screw the nut in or out you can adjust the lash slightly i believe. i had a similar problem with mine after i rebuilt the gear until someone told me how to adjust it. so when i rebuilt it again the next year i adjusted it correctly. feels really freeking going down the interstate and trying to change lanes and nothing happens till you get to 1/4 to 1/3 turn

Don't tighten it too much tough, there needs to be some play or the worm gear will wear down prematurely.
