Never built a auto engine before.
I am into fast boats and O/B motors. If I can go 100MPH over the water than the Freeway should be cakewalk. I drove over the stock crank back in Feb. It leaked oil and I forgot.
Getting a shopping list going:
So I have soaked up enough info to start my own project.
This is a 2WD lowrider being built. I realize this is a 4X4 forum but lets start with the engine.
I need to go as fast as I can (or can shift it) with smog reg's and stock EFI.
The list:
TRD stage one cam (10% HP)
metal back guides
flowed head (20HP)
LCE header and cat. (15HP)
2.25" pipe 3 chamber. (10HP)
~12 LBS flywheel (?HP)
LC short Shifter.
Posi Rear. (To hold it down.)
Egr delete.

Sound good so far?
I am trying to find out if it is better to have a matched set of HP parts from one mfgr. or it does not matter? I did some searching and I am still not sure which cam is best for a light fast truck. I am hoping to see the F/E off the ground in 2nd.

O.K. Done. The $1M cam question is the stock one will let you lope down to a crawl in traffic. That is more important than a few extra ponies.
So much for popping wheelies.

he can build you a reliable 150hp 22re (or atleast sell you the parts to)
to have a nice fun little truck...
i'd get a set of his p+p'd heads with cam, OS valves, etc... a new exhaust, and build an intake....
wouldnt really do more unless you are planning supercharger or turbo...

 

What do you mean by "Flowed Head" If you mean ported, depending on how extesively ported it is you can get a good deal more than 20hp.

BUT,
Going past 150-160hp is going to require some fuel delivery/ injection modifications to supply enough fuel for that power level. The Cam selection depends on the overall package.

And wheelies with a 22RE ain't going to happen without serious boost and/or nitrous

 

Thanks. So it all comes down to machining. Maybe I will let ted do the whole motor. I'll go with the nitrous than. I don't need the power all the time.
