Place your bets.[no oil pressure]
Was driving the Toy the other day, shut it off, ran a errand, fired it back up and WTF. The Oil light stayed on and the gauge reads 0 oil psi. Got it towed back to my shop and put a "master gauge" on it last night, no pressure.
Will have to dig into it this weekend, and with the club run to the sand-dunes coming up in 2 weeks, I hope I can get it fix in time.
SO, place your bets on what you think I'll find is the problem
[sheared oil pump key, relief valve, pick-up tube fell off, etc]

Nope, sounded fine when i fired it up, was about to put it in gear when i did the "why is that red light on", followed by *&^%
as i looked at the oil pressure gauge and shut it off. Run time 4 or 5 seconds tops.

so it started to "rattle" / "knock" ?
hard to believe the woodruf key would break , and a pluged/siezed pressure spring is only for over pressure .. pick-up tube - so rare , I have NEVER heard of it .

when you mention "Got it towed back to my shop and put a "master gauge" on it last night, no pressure", that means you plugged another gauge into the plug where the sender was, correct? If thats so I am going to bet on some sort of malfunction in the oil passages or woodruff key as the drop happened so fast. If that wasn't another gauge its gotta be the sender IMO

A aftermarket gauge set{from MAC Tools} that I bought a few year ago when i worked at a "stealership" as a automotive tech. Gauge is[was] calibrated and I used it for testing tranny & engine oil pressures. Yes, pulled the sender out for the factory gauge, tapped in, POOP{can i say that on here
} no pressure and no oil when i crank it over. NOT good.
Started taking pieces off tonight, we'll see how far I get, have to work all day Sat
[GREAT, now their talking snow for here, sigh, well that'll be "fun" too.]

If you have sludge issues, you'll know it. But I have never seen a 22R sludged up, ever. And its not likely to be the pick up tube either.
I'd put my money on the oil pump. Good catch!

Ive seen the relief valve get stuck open before by a small piece of metal, before you tear into it too much take off the big nut on top of the oil pump and pull out the relief valve and inspect/clean i bet thats it, unless you did suck up a big chunk of something and jammed the pump=sheared keyway, good luck

Putting it back together. Had to rig up a adapter so i could "pull" vacuum on the oil pick up to check it for leaks. It tested good, so I'm leaning towards the POS oil filter that came with the truck that allowed the oil to drain back[guess what brand im never using again, see oil filter thread elsewhere in the forum]
So I've put the new oil pump on and crank pulley. Thats as far as i got the other night. While its apart, I'm installing a new high output Alt up high on the right side of the engine[hope to keep it somewhat dryer on those deep water crossings] Will have to custom make mounting brackets for it and then put a new rad in while I'm at it.
