help-too much pressure

When i got home yesterday the engine light came on and when i stopped coolant was coming out of the cap. all the hoses were super pressurized. truck is running fine. no white smoke. thanks
oh yah 88 4runner v6

either you really overheated or you got a blown headgasket. most likely the HG. but to be sure wait till it cools down and then take the cap off and start the truck if it bubble its a blown HG. and you could do a compression test too see how bad its blown.

Probably HG. They often fail between the cylinder and a water jacket. That pumps exhaust pressure into the cooling system. As suggested, look for bubbles when you refill and if suspect, do a system pressure test.

just found a small hole in one of the hoses, could this be the cause?

severely doubt it but you are going to replace it anyways if you do some engine work.

Unlikely, unless you overheated and boiled your water, but worth a try.
Watch for smoke on start up. If you blow into the water jacket, you might not have any smoke during driving - but the radiator pressure will push water into the cylinder and sometimes cause smoke on start up.
