Road Less Traveled link? I want to jam bigger tires on

ok

my signature described what I have currently

what is the biggest size tire I can fit by doing some cutting?

I remember the article titled the road less traveled about a 4 runner that they jammed big tires on...I might do something similar but want to read that article first

I currently have 285 75 16's

if I go with a wheel that kicks it out a little more, that can I fit on my truck in its current set up - lift wise etc. Any recommedations on wheels? who makes something cheap in a steel wheel that will kick it out another inch or so?

I will do gears as needed

thanks!

I think you're talking about Trails Less Traveled (TLT) and there was a thread on here about fitting 35's with only a 2" body lift

Chris (Ravencr) fit 285s with 0-1" of lift (don't remember exactly) (then he lifted and ironically had more issues than before).

I think sonoran steel steve fit 35s (315/somethings, actually) with 2" suspension lift and 1.5" body lift. maybe it was 2.5" suspension lift.

You can go 35's but it is going to take a substantial amount of cutting and 4.5"? backspaced wheels. Here is the link for you.

why ditch the LC's for heavy steelies that stick out? youre going the wrong way...

to fit 35/12.5's you'll need at least 1"BL, shaved arms or 1.5" spacer or 3-3.5" BS wheels, and 4.88's. plus some cutting and pounding of the pinch weld area.

I do have a 1 invh body lift plus 3 inch suspension lift

I already have cut out the fender bottom and pinch weld is gone - this was an earlier mod

How do the shaved A arms work? no problem at all? I have a spare pair so think I should send them out and have them modified, then toss them in

think I will be safe for a 35 12.5 at that point?

thanks
