Question 97 SR5 clock quit...removal of dash question

so i read the thread about replacing the stereo and how to remove the stuff to get in there. today i was pushing on the clock in my 97 (which hasn't worked in forever), and it went back through the dash. now i have a hole and the clock is back in the "black hole". in following the steps shown on the thread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/r...stereo-116759/ do i really need to remove heat & a/c stuff or can the dash panel be removed without taking out A/C button and faceplate to controls??

Sorry, you've got to remove them. It's really not bad at all on 97 though. Just pull of the nobs and use something to pry the faceplate off. that's it.

Yeah on a 97 the dash is really easy to take off.

I Have had mine out a bunch of times it's real easy. Mine is a 98 4runner. I put in a stereo 2 times (the first one crapped out on me) The manual says to unhook battery first. RThe sensor for the air bag is on the floor hump behind the dash panel. lol
