Exhaust is strong smelling

Ever since I bought my runner the exhaust smells. It gets good gas mileage, the tailpipe isnt black but it smells strong. Any idea on a fix? I'm thinking about running seaform through it. Its bad enough that I roll my windows up at a stop light if I'm there long.

What does it smell like? Smoke, unburned fuel, etc. will have different smells and different fixes.

My '91 slowly lost mpg down to 12 before it finally threw a code for the o2 sensor --- there was a very strong gas smell the whole time.
After replacing - mpg jumped right back up to 17-18 without the gas smell.

Maybe your cat is failing.

on my runner im thinking about just gutting out the cat, I live in Arkansas so we dont have emissions and all that good junk. On my little dodge I had i took the cat off all together and just put a straight pipe in its place. gave the truck a nice little rumble
