Dash Clock Problems
Do all year 4runners have the problem with the digital clocks?
Has anyone determined if there is a fix for the problem?
Mine is in the intermitten stage but is still working most of the time.

yeah, mine goes out but if i thump it or tap on it, it comes back but then fades away again at some point. i don't know what the problem is but if they could be fixed that would be great. i think it's funny that if you look on ebay people are selling used dash clocks for $75 on up and those clocks are probably going to do that same thing in a short time. i'm thinking of just getting a nice gauge that has a clock, outside temp, and compass all in one and bypass the stock clock. that gauge that i'm talking about is about $300 though but it's trick!

If you have done any "behind the dash" work, the clock plug is very vulnerable to being inadvertently loosened or unplugged completely. There is also another "faux" socket where you can accidently plug it back in and it won't word at all.
Pry out the center dash panel and check the clock plug for security. Might work for you. It did for me on my '99.

I have a 2000 and my clock has been completely functional. "Knock on Wood." I have, however had some of my panel lights go out once or twice in that immediate area. (ie rear window button, temp controls, etc) Those are all cheap, easy fixes though, compared to the digital clock.

Digital Clock Problems
Thanks Henhouse 1 for some useful info on fixing the digital clock. I have a '99 and it goes in and out. Tapping really hard helps sometimes. I've tried checking the plug connection and that isn't it. Does anyone know what causes it to go in and out? Any other fix ideas? I guess they just go.
