Gen1 Winch mount - Design help

For some odd reason... I need to replace my front bumper / winch mount...

Original (previous owner's not-so-handywork) inadequate bumper mounting:

Hated the original bumper anyway - so I stripped the useful parts off, and now we have:

Having a hard time seeing a good way to mount the winch - and lift it up ~5" to make it look "right", while still being able to adequately brace it to ensure it doesn't peel off again.

Anyone have some good ideas/recommendations (or pictures) of how they've done theirs?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

What i would do is first plate the frame where the bumper mounted and riped off. Next you can drill holes in plate and frame with pass though spacers so you can bolt a new bumper on with the original mounting holes, and weld some tube at a angle to the frame under radiator support with plates to for mounting the new bumper to. This makes it a triangle and a triangle is the strongest way to mount or brace something.

I've looked at wabbits long and hard before posting - 2 problems...

1. Canada - Need winch mounted this weekend... Canada customs = slower than sin. Even if ups/fedex aren't

2. Holes it bolts into... are no longer there (the ones at the front of the frame rails are - but appear to be stripped.

I have the winch mount from wabfab that I am selling. Parting out my truck. Or you can buy the whole thing.

You need to plate the Swiss Cheese Front Cross Member before doing anything else. It is VERY weak.

I have a 92 toyota SR5 and I want a winch bumper for it but im not paying 600 bucks for a nice one and i ripped out my tow hooks, plus i would get more enjoyment out of making my own. I have some ideas drawn up but i dont know where to put the mounting holes besides the 8 that are there, 4 in the front and 2 on the sides.
