Sending Unit or Worse??

Coming home, this evening, running approx. 65 miles per hour, I noticed that my oil pressure was reading all the way to the left. Who knows how long it had been reading that but I didn't hear any valve noise and the temperature was correct.

When I came to my exit and stopped the needle rose to the first "low" mark and then increased more as I pulled away from the light but when approaching 45 to 50 miles per hour, the needle dropped again.

If this is pump or engine related, shouldn't I be hearing some valve noise when the pressure reads to the left?

my gauge is very wierd. It will go to perhaps the first little mark on the pressure gauge then go to like -10 while normal driving...
Has been for years.

check your oil? oil pressure will go down if the level is not high enough. this happened in my 88 Corolla GTS. There was not enough oil to pickup, thus pressure would go down during accel.

I've seen this on quite a few vehicles. I would be willing to bet it's the sending unit.
