1986 4Runner for sale
I bought this truck from my aunt (the original owner) some 8 years ago. It now has 201,000 miles on it and I've been communting with it daily. I don't understand how, but it's currently getting 25 mpgs and runs great. It's gray, 5 speed manual, has a sunroof, body graphics, dashboard gauges and the interior is very clean for the age (even the center console cover). The truck is completely stock except for a Kenwood combo cd/tape head unit and replacement speakers that I put in.
Now the bad: it has a cracked windshield that would need to be replaced to pass any kind of safety inspection; the exhaust needs replacement; the radiator has rotted and leaks and needs replacement, but it somehow cycles and holds enough coolant to keep her cool; the right front upper shock mount bracket rusted right off the frame and would require metal fab and a custom weld (I'm just riding on the spring as the shock flaps in the breeze); it loses a minimal amount of oil, about 1/3 a quart every 3,000 miles; front fenders, which were replaced before I bought it, are now rusted; tailgate is rusted but window still works with key; rear fenders, which I had patched (nice job), are now starting to rust. That's all I can think of right now and that might be everything that's wrong with it. Oh yeah, the front end is getting pretty loose too.
If people are interested I'll try to work the old digital camera and get some pics up. I live in New Paltz, NY (Hudson Valley) and would like to get $500 for it.

Little help
I just tried to send you a private message, but I had the same problems with the pictures that I had when I originally tried to put them up. I'd love to put them in this thread for everyone to see, but I'm not intelligent enough to figure this stuff out. Why can't I just paste them into the message body full resolution like everybody else seems to be doing?

Here goes, I think I forever shrank the one of the rear when I was trying to attach them earlier:

Other info
Note the black bumpers. My aunt said that chrome would have come with the truck, but because she doesn't like it, she requested black. Crazy, I know.
I just added the 1/3 quart of oil to the engine the other day (it's been 3,000 miles since last change), but I left the cap off for about 60 miles. You can imagine the horror and mess. Surprisingly, it didn't lose much, but it looks like it did. I'll take a pic soon, but it won't show much now. I can honestly say that it looked like the valve cover gasket was the leak culprit before the accident. More to come-pizza time...

The most recent fix to this thing was a new master cylinder some 4000 miles ago. The spare tire has been riding in the back for years now due to rust down there. I never off-roaded in the truck for entertainment-not into it. The clutch cylinder was done before I bought it. Questions?

Thats an SR5...
The PARTS on that are worth a bit
interior bits
SR5 bits
rear sears
center console
Seats (tho probalby a tad flattened out)
The front fame horn looks bad but might be OK
I see holes in the REAR spare tire cross over - may or may no tbe that bad.
The real Q - is the frame in FRONT of the rear spring forward mount (wher it kicks up) OK?
The rocker rust is common - ToyotaFiberglass to the rescue
Front fenders are bolt on deals
Needs alot of TLC - its over 20 years old...

Sold!
To Jose for $350 off of Craigslist. Price came down when I noticed the fuel tank was leaking a few days ago. My glorious 4Runner will have its engine, tranny, and doors stripped and sent to Hondurus, the rest scrapped. I'm a little disappointed that no one from this site wanted a decent parts rig, but I imagine a lot get offered and everyone is pretty spread out.
I'll rest easy knowing my Runner will ride again, be it in another chassis. Adios, amigos!
