Speedo/PRNDL light not working

My dads truck (92 pickup 22RE w/ auto tran electronic speed sensor) speedo and gear selection lights aren't working at all. I thought it was the cluster so i changed that and its not the problem. Has anyone run into this problem? I tried searching but there were no result for this problem. Thanks in Advance

well my dads speedo isn't working either so he can't tell how fast he is going. You guys think it might be the speed sensor?

fuses

Have you checked the fuses? There is probably a couple different fuses for the various interior lights.

Could it be a bulb ? Or a unplugged connector ? I dont know how that end of it is set up , but I had a bad speed sensor and it didn't cuase the light to go out.

it sounds like its just the lights, just have to replace them. my temp control light has been out since i owned my 4Runner (1.5 years and counting).

Does this mean that all the dash lights are out?

If so, check the dimmer knob to make sure it is turned up (easy to forget about), or it could be burnt out.

My speed hand fell to 0 the other day coming home.. It had always taken it a minute to start working.. I would get a couple mile from the house it would kick up to the speed i was running but after about a 75 mile trip the other day it fell to 0 and has not moved since.. I checked to make sure the speed sensor was pluged in , the connection looked clean and not dirty.. The sencor must be bad.. anybody ever changed 1? are they expensive?
