I picked up a good 4.88 geared 4 pinion 8" third recently [G 14 4 code - teeth are 8 pinion & 39 ring gear]. Gears look to be in good shape.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

$225 plus shipping (about 65lbs) from 13901.

**BTW....the front third is available, but it's the ADD setup. (Can someone verify what the actual difference is between that and the regular setup?)

Got it from one of the guys up there.

Don't know if you noticed or heard....those guys aren't putting in any more 454's, LT1's, etc. They're putting them off to the side and charging 4 times the usual price.

I probably got the last 454" and LT1 out of the yard at regular price.

They were also going to set a 99 Tacoma....I hear some dealer bought it.

 

Who told you this? I was just there last week and I saw a big block in the lower section. They do set aside parts for the workers cause they get first dibs but I have seen LT1's numerous times in there but they don't last long.

Last 454" I saw in there was back during the big snow storm.....got that one out of a fullsize van.

I got the last two LT1's....Roadmaster & 9C1 cop car.

I'm positive that sometimes the guys doing the processing get some parts ahead of time, but Gary's official policy is that they get them in the yard like everyone else. Only way around that, is for Dennis to pull them in the morning....sometimes he's out there at 7:30am.

The 'special' engine policy is a very recent thing. I've been talking to Steve about it. Even for cores on those type engines, they're getting 2 to 4 times more than regular price.....just for a core.

Talk to Bill as well. He is the guy with the grey F150. Husky kind of a guy. Very cool dude and he goes out of his way to help people. If you got Dennis and him your odds are good.

Oh yeah....Billy's as easy to get along with as anyone. Great sense of humor. Actually, now that I've gotten to know Dennis too - he's pretty easy to get along with too. Definitely a different personality from Bill.

There aren't too many guys up there I'm not on a first name basis with....pretty much just the guys down in the drain shop that don't make it up top all that often.

Now.....who want's to buy a 4.88 third??
