95 3.0 stumbling on first cold start in the mornings.
Well the title explains it all. My 95 4Runner 3.0 Auto has been stumbling on the frst cold start in the morning for the past few weeks. It will turn over on the first try then hesiatate at like 3-500 RPM'S like it wants to stall then it will shoot up to the normal 1500 or so. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor along with the head gasket, timing belt and water pump about 6k miles ago. It also has a new 02 sensor. I'm thinking maybe it's a fuel issue, something as simple as a clogged fuel filter because at 162k miles I know it's never been changed. Any thoughts? It's only on the first start of the day and then it's fine. I'm in Mass and it's been cold the past few days but it seems to do better when warm. Oh yeah, the starter is less than a year old as well. I'm gonna run some inector cleaner through it on the next tank. Any reccomendations on what kind of injector cleaner I should get. I usually just go with Chevron or something like that. Cheers, Paul

I've been having the same problem once in awhile. Not every day, but when it happens the truck has been sitting for at least 12 hours. No other problems. I was thinking that the fuel system was losing pressure while it sat, but I haven't been able to find any evidence of a leak. Anyone else have this problem or an idea what it might be?

I've been thinking more about this since I posted and I'm thinking it's the fuel pressure regulator actually. I got a code 25 a month or two ago and I replaced the 02 sensor and it never came back but since you mentioned pressure MTNFREAK and that it has to sit for 12 hours has me thinking it's the fuel pressure regulator. Mine only does this if it's been sitting for an extended period of time as well. Mine is intermittent and isn't really a problem yet anyways I was just fishing for some ideas.
