I busted the frame on my 84 toyota, its seriously rusted out, and cracking in new places. I want to do a frame swap and do some other work on it as well, so far the only frame I have found is an 84 2wd frame, I was wondering how this compares the the 4wd frame? Same? totally different?
I've got the specs for the frame but no specification if its for 4wd or all frames

The 4WD frames are completely boxed in, with four sides to each frame rail. I don't know if the 2WD's are boxed or not... there's really no reason for them to be.

This guy has a lot of specific comparisons and pics between 2WD and 4WD frames as well as components.

Off the top of my head, I believe the arch by the front wheels is higher on a 2WD frame. There may be other differences as well.

 

Eh, no and no. Not the same. 2wd uses a Torsion bar setup. 4wd uses leaf springs, just as a starting point.

Everything from front to rear is different on the frames.
