cruise control=sporadic

first off, i searched to no avail so here it is. i drove 615 miles from denver to kc last night. the cruise control was working like a dream and then about 400 miles into the trip, it would start shutting itself off randomly. cruisin along fine, then the light would shut off, and it would blink twice. after i turned it back on it would work fine again for a while, then shut off. any ideas?

not sure if it applies to your application, but my 00 5-speed needs the clutch to be FULLY at the top of its throw for the cruise to work.

i've had to tap the bottom of the clutch with my left toe to make sure it was all the way up for the cruise to work.

I dont know about your 4runners, but my cruise light will turn on when I turn on cruise with the on/off switch, and stay on untill I turn off the cruise with the on/off switch, or shut the ignition off. Meaning, if your cruise light is turning off, it most likely will not be a problem with your clutch, brake, and cancel switches. I am not certain where to trouble shoot from there, but I bet a multimeter is involved. Goodluck.

Check you clutch pedal bracket and make sure it's not cracked or loose. If it is, your clutch switch would cause the cruise to disengage.

I just took my Runner for a spin and tried this out, worked like a charm! And I thought my cruise control was shot! Is there anyway to get the clutch to disengage fully by itself?
