Don't venture to the 3rd Gen part of YT very often.

Does anyone know whether or not one can cut out the hood scoop from a 3rd Gen 4Runner and splice it into a 2nd Gen?

I know that anything is possible, but how possible would this be? Are the hood shapes and profiles even remotely similar? Close enough to be feasible? I figure I'd cut out the 3rd Gen scoop maybe 4" all around and then blend it into the 2nd Gen hood.

I am needing some additional clearance for a 3.4 swap and have a line on a damaged 3rd Gen hood with scoop for basically free. Thought it would be pretty clean just to use one of the newer factory scoops.

 

I was going to do it when i did my engine swap, but I didnt end up needing the extra clearance the scoop provides. I still have the cut up sport edition hood in my garage. LOL

 

i did a turboII hood scoop on a first gen rx7 (it was about 20-25 hours of labor to make it work right) i think it can be done

Since that's working for now... I haven't looked into a scoop much more, but probably will one day.
