Well tonight i was cruzing down the road and pulled up to a stop sign and my trucks idol went to crap. my truck has 206488 miles on it and it was ticking really bad.
is this a sign or the motor geting ready to go on me? my check motor light is on also. i added a little oil and it seems to be runing a little better but still has a bad tick? should i look into a new motor? my buddy has one i can get for cheap just rebuilt. what ever is wrong has me hella confused any help would be great thanks

First, pull the CEL code.

Go to Autozone, or Chucks. They should be able to get the codes for you, and let you know why the CEL came on.

 

There are plenty of threads on checking CEL codes. Paperclip TE to E1 and count how many times the CEL flashes. Go ahead and do the search for more details and what the codes translate to.
