Hey all,

I just bought Weber carburetor from another member here to put on my '86. My question, for folks who have used a weber on their truck...how does one go about adapting the throttle linkage?

Do the factory pieces just bolt onto the shaft of the weber? Do I need to use some other sort of linkage? As you probably know, the factory setup is a really large cotraption that consists of a big hook-shaped cable end that mates up with the throttle linkage (that is comparably large). I don't have a photo on this computer, or I'd post (and will if need be...when I've got the photo handy)...

If someone could post or email me a photo of how their weber throttle linkage is set up...that would be really appreciated. clemsparks at hotmail dot com.

Here is how it looks with the stock carb...sorry for the clutter, but if you're familiar, you'll probably know what to look for.



I'm hoping I can simply take the linkage off the stock carburetor and put it on the weber. That way I can use the factory cable setup. If anybody can confirm or deny this for me...that would be very helpful.

Just an update...I got everything together in the same place last night and figured this one out.

The linkage from the factory carb will in fact fit right onto the weber 32/36 that I have...

Just thought I'd update in case anybody else comes across the same issue.

Good to know. I put a weber 32\36 DGEV on my 79 the other day and the linkage that came on the carb doesnt work with the factory linkage. I already threw the factory carb away weeks ago, and didnt even think about using the linkage on that one. Not sure what I'm gonna do now.

 

So...

Here's what I ended up doing to keep the factory linkage setup.

I took the arm off the factory carburetor and put it on the shaft of the Weber.

I knew that the weber (with a one-piece-cast adapter) would end up with the throttle shaft 1.5" higher than stock...so I planned to space the linkage (that mounts to the stock manifold) up by 1.5 inches. However, I also learned that the Weber carb (at least the 32/36 DGAV that I have) ends up with the linkage about 1" forward from the factory piece. So I made a bracket that relocated the factory linkage bracket 1.5 inches higher and 1" forward from factory.

It's a hack job, but I ended up with two pieces of 1.5" square tubing with holes at each end (1" apart) to perform the adaptation. Looks bad, works fine.

mine i just used the factory stuff on and it worked great. I had to add a stiffer return spring tho because the one i had was ready to brake. I went a bit stiffer and i like it....makes me watch speeds more.

For the guy who needs factory linkages. PM me pics of the ones you need. I have 6 stock carbs in a box ready to go up forsale on ebay and craigslist and i will just snag one off before listing it.

 

Anybody got a pic of how to hook up the stock throttle linkage to a new Weber 32/36 carb? Do I use that U-shaped bracket? Carb is on, but I can't figure out this throttle linkage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
