Do I need longer shocks???
I've got a 94 Pickup, and I've just received my set of 1.5" BJ spacers from SDORI.
I was also thinking of getting 2" lift shackles in the back as well to even things out. My only problem is, I just got this truck a few weeks ago, it hasn't even seen the road yet, and I bought a set of Rancho 5000's that are meant for 0-1" of lift. Can I get away with the Rancho's? Or do I need to shell out more cash for new shocks, when I've already spent $$$ on the Ranchos??? I've seen the instructions and they say to shim the shock. Do I do this by washers? and how safe is that??? If I shim the front, what do I do to the rear??? This is going to be my daily driver soon.
Any help would be appreciated.

honestly I've been running my stock shocks with an add-a-leaf in the rear that gave me two inches of lift. I have had no problems and I wouldn't waste the money if it was me. It's my daily driver and I only wheel a little bit though. Your shocks can take a little extra lift if they are decent. I have gas-adjust front and rear and they handle fine. The front has an extra 1.5" of torsion bar lift and no problems for... been running more than 30,000 miles since the torsion adjustment and add-a-leaf. So it's possible.

I have 2 options, I can buy new shocks now to install the Lift shackles and BJ spacers. Or I can wait on buying new shocks and installing the shackles and spacers until i get the IFS lift that I'm savin up for.
SAS is not an option, because an IFS lift will do what I need and more.
Any shock suggestions???
big_blue_goat -this was the kind of response I was looking for.
LTrunner - You've got me thinking

don't buy more than one set of shocks. get your IFS lift and then get shocks to go with it. Run your shocks you have now with the smidge of lift and when you go 3-4" get yourself a set of pro-comp shocks or better for a 4inch lift.

I see tons of posts telling people to get longer shocks (rear). But, if I just want a budget shock from autozone or napa (< $30), what vehicle uses a similar but longer shock that would work in the rear of my '87 4runner?
I currently use front shocks for a 1990 Suzuki Samurai in the front of my 4runner. They are about 3-inches longer.
