Just got this nice ol' truck from my step dad.


Thing starts up fine, but going anywhere and doing anything is almost a chore.

The turbo is non functional, and this thing just doesnt have any power/speed to speak of whatsoever... Im definately not a mechanic, but I know it should be running better than it is.

I am wondering if because the turbo is non-functional if thats draining any power? or ? Im just not sure. I think its weird that it's turbo'd and automatic.

Any ideas? I'd love for this to be a bad ass truck, and i know it'll get there.. just dont know where to start.. Im up for any info you can throw at me.

 

if the turbo is not spinning the exhaust may be having a hard time escaping,therefore your lack of power.Put a couple of hundred in it and give it a good tune up,mild rebuild.I bet you'll be happy

the turbo models have really low compression, somewhere around 7:1 or something like that because of the turbo and without your turbo working i wouldnt think you would get loads of power. i would start with getting your turbo fixed or getting a new one thats better than stock and give it a tune up or maby a rebuild and you should be good to go

 

As mentioned above, it's low compression (by design) - say maybe 60-70 hp peak w/o the turbo. Start by doing basic compresson or lead down testing and then replacing the turbo.
A new CT20 (turbo) is ridiculously expensive. There are other options.

Did you rotate that turbo so that the drain is down?
How's it perform compared to the ct20? Any ECU issues with the t3?
Who built the flange adapter - I get people asking me for a reference for the ct20 to t3 adapter all the time.

 

darin thats my sons truck remember tom renzoni . its jasons t3 at tec turbos set up.no ecu issues and the old ct20 was shot before we owned the truck and it was running like crap.

 

Any ideas what you guys paid for the adapter?

 

turbo,exhuast manifold,downpipe,exhuast pipes for 1900.00

 

i'd love for my truck to look like that.
