Does this sound right?HELP!

My rear axel seal on my passenger side went out two months ago. Diff fluid was all over my drums. I didn't have the equipment or the know how to fix that, so $215 later It was fixed by a local shop along with new rear brake pads. Monday after spending all day replacing my front rotors, pads and lowerball joints the same tire is leaking Diff fluid. Took it back in figuring they screwed up they told my bearing went bad and it will cost $300 to replace.

I searched around here and relized most people who had their axel seal go replaced their bearing anyway because running with low diff fluid could damage the bearing.

MY POINT: Do you think my mechanic should have asked me if I wanted to replace the bearing because it could have been damaged the FIRST TIME??

Do I have a point? Am I getting screwed? Or am I just wrong?

He should have known better and someone good with customer service would have suggested it anyway, but he's not actually obligated to say anything so it's hard to turn around and pin this back on the mechanic. I'd chalk that up to just a stinky set of circumstances.

next time call the dealership and ask how much they would do whatever for and then call mom and pop shops and if the dealer said 300$ ask the mom and pop shop to do it for 250.. sometimes they will.. but as far as price goes they will F you hard

Took it to Blacks Tire and auto. They have done a great job with my tires in the past.
