Transmission interchangeability with 5VZFE???
Hi,
Just curious to know if anyone out there is running a 3.4L with an R150f tranny behind it. I have a 3.0 V6 waiting to g into a build and I am considering going with the 3.4 instead...just want to see if I can use the same tranny I already have or not. I bet I can't but i am curious...
Thanks,
Jon

My 97 3.4, 5spd has the R150f-- would figure there would other differences you would have to worry about. Like crossmember, clutch slave cyclinder hosing etc...

3.4 & 3.0 have a very similar block. Transmission & engine mounts are the same. Do a search for the oilpan problems, nothing major it's all bolt on but I can't remember the exact specifics.
I've heard that you'll need a small body lift to accommodate the taller 3.4L.

word on the street is that you'll need a motor that was connected to a manual already for it to match up to your 3.0L 5sp. that said, there are execptions to this case where the (input bearing i think? cant remember) allowed for an automatic'd 3.4L to connect to the R150F. there are also a few swap kits out there from what i recall...

I belive that the other thread also mentioned that the bell housings were completely different, and that the clutch came through the wrong side.

As far as I know it can't be done, the starter is on the wrong side, but with that said.... I have a 4.0L V-6 with 6-speed 4x4 crated and ready to be shipped to me. I'm just curious if the bolt pattern is the same, if so will the starter clear the steering linkage. Either way I'll have a drive train for my rock buggy.

I have done the said swap you are contemplating, and I have the R150F. So yes, it will work. And its awesome!
If you search my user name on here, Pirate and 4x4 Wire you will find my threads about the swap.
