There's a ton of really nifty things. A few of the things I have are OSXPlanet (Puts an image of the globe, or any planet, on the desktop, displays clouds, storms, day/night, all sorts of neat things, updates automatically); MenuMeters (displays all sorts of system info in the top system bar, very helpful and convienent). On the dashboard I have SystemStats, Gas Price Watch (tells me the price of gas at all gas stations around me in a 10 mile radius, it's neat). There's a bunch of other nifty little tools that people make for our Macs that I'm sure I don't even know about yet. Those are just a few! Hope that helps!

Yeah Parallels is awsome...on this old G4 I have Virtual PC...it is beyond slow, not really good for much of anything.

a cool (not free) program is Yep, I use it all the time. It's kinda like iTunes and iPhoto but for PDF documents. Helps out a lot, all my bank and insurance statements are PDF's, and I scan my paystubs and receipts into it too. (for tax purposes) Maybe I'm too organized, lol

Another good one is flock, it's a web browser that really integrates nicely with photobucket.

Transmission is a nice bit torrent client.

If you have netflix, netlix freak is a must!

Also Handbrake and lostify work great to convert movies and tv shows for iPod/iTunes use.

Roxio toast is what I use for burning DVD's, I also use mactheripper and dvd2onex.

And parallels is a great program, use it for work and school where there are windows apps I need to run.

There are so many great programs out there for the mac, I'll post if I think of any others, don't have my mbp with me right now

Check out macupdate.com, its a great site to find bunches of cool little widgets and applications for OS X. Congratulations on that Macbook, and for what its worth... parallels might be kinda cool, but why run windows anymore anyway? All joking aside, some of my favorite programs are

Proxi - this lets me have shorcuts for opening every program and it runs in the background without taking up much memory.

Synergy- I can control iTunes from any aplications through hotkeys or the menubar.

Firefox- yea...

Adium- actually the best Instant messenger client for OS X. Its very customizable.

Onyx- System Optimizer... not that you'll need it but w/e.

Shapeshifter- This one is for looks only and they put out the universal binary for it a little while ago and it works great on my Powerbook G4. This company (unsanity) actuallly has a bunch of little apps that make OS X cleaner that it already is. Cleardock for example takes the semi transparent thing away from the dock. Desktop sweeper hides all of your icons on the desktop so that there is less clutter ( I love that for when I have a really nice picture in the background).

I digress,

any more and you wont have any fun discovering what fun OS X really is. Congratulations on the purchase and feel free to PM me with any questions.

I downloaded a cool little hack/program that takes a picture with the built in isight if someone tries to log in with the wrong password, I forget the name, let me know if you are interested in it and I'll look for it.

not free, but a great add-on for itunes. Volume Logic, kind of like a software amp I guess, makes your music sound "fuller"
