2" 4Crawler BL Install Question

Have questions that I could not find on 4Crawler's site or with-in the forum about a 2" BL install. I have dismantled everything and I am ready to lift the vehicle up to insert the spacers.

Using a floor jack, I raised the body up about 1 1/2", however, the gap between the body and the frame is only about 1/4- 1/2 inch at the most. I am thinking this is due to raising the body and relieving some of the weight on the springs, etc by supporting the body a different way, netting a small gain in space between the frame and the body. Is this right?

ALso, I am using a floor jack so it has a tendancy to go up and at an angle while lifting the vehicle. I have a 2 X 4 on top the rail, and will likely add another board to reach the height I want....am I going to bend the pinch weld? I need to adjust this beacuse at max height, I only reached the gains mentioned above in height.

And lastly, WAB FAB helped me out on this one, but I want to verify since I erased the e-mail response...The body lift goes between the bushing and the body, so the set-up would look like frame body mount, OEM poly bushing, RB spacer, and body, Right-

AAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNDDD I double checked to ensure all the needed bolts are loose or off, depending on where they are on the rig- AT loose, and rag joint off.

THANKS!!!!!!

Did you loosen every body mount bolt? Not just the ones on the side you are trying to jack up...?

Every Bolt

Every nut is off the pass side, and every nut is on the last two threads for the drivers side...double and triple checked.

Lossening the other side

The 4Crawler site recommends loosening the opposite side down to a few threads- I know what you are saying though...wouldn't want the body to slide off in the garage,,,HAHA

I just installed my 1.5 in this past weekend and didn't experience what you are talking about. However I had the vehicle on blocks while installing the suspension lift at the same time. My guess would be that you missed a bolt somewhere but I would think the body would lift in a very odd way. Or your piece of wood is just to short. Sorry I can't be of much help.

I just did a 2" on monday, and on two of my body mounts, the bushing was stuck to the body and the mount, so the body was basically stuck to the frame. A couple of good whacks with a hammer and it let go. Jack it up a little, then go around and check every mount to make sure it has let go. Good luck.

Edit: I just read that, and I don't even understand what I'm saying. Just make sure to have a look around to ensure everything is moving like it should.

i loosened them all up but still had the opposite side threaded up. use a hi jack with a really long 4x4 plank under the entire pinch weld to equal the weight on the block, I got mine up enough to do 2.5 almost 3 inchs of a bodylift with my 2 inch pucks.

and you are right on the last one.

id rather use a hi jack, for one you can keep it from moving, and your tires are still mounted so if it slips, you wont get crushed

Don't forget to remove the front bumper bolts on the sides that attach the bumper to the body.

You won't bend the pinch weld...but make sure to distribute the load.
