Drivers side mirror

Hey all-

I'm new to the Toyota community and have a quick question for ya. My driver's side mirror seems like it is going to fall of while driving. I think there is a screw or bolt that holds the thing in, but I don't know how to get to it. I have a 3rd gen 4Runner. Do I need to take the tweeter out to get to the bolt that holds the mirror in? Any help would be appreciated.

yes, you need to get the tweeter out. that sail panel is a bitch to remove, requiring lots of force, and usually breaking it. i broke mine when i installed my stereo. you may even have to remove the whole door panel, i do not recall.

i can email you instructions, PM me your email address

ive taken mine off several times now... you dont need to take the whole door panel off... just the sail panel... there are two tabs near the bottom that fit in slots, and a plastic plug near the top I believe... the plug is what holds it in... it shouldnt require too much force

you may not even need to take out the tweeter... there are 3 bolts/screws that hold the corners of the mirror mounting there, probably 10mm, if you are lucky they will be loose, if you are not lucky they will be stripped and the plastic will be ˟˟˟˟ in the mirror housing
