All-Pro winch bumper on...fitment issues

So I got a good deal from another board on an All-Pro winch bumper...I see why, it must have been a Friday bumper.

Here is what it looks like from far away...nice huh
See the sweet 3rd gen in the background...my new neighbor

Here is an issue..

Another issue is the turn signal brackets are not even close...The bumper is for an 89-95 pickup or 4runner. Are the lights smaller on the earlier models?

It is also not level..dips down. I guess I will need to enlarge the holes to adjust it..

Dang that sucks dude. Nothing a little tweaking won't fix though. I'd ditch the blinkers entirely and do the double socket mod to your corner lenses.

Aren't the lights from a pickup a little smaller then the 4runner ones?

Looks like with just a little bit of tweakin you can get your bumper right.

Congrats on the neighbor....mine owns 2 chevy astro vans

Here's a piture of mine. I had the same problems with fitment. I made the side markers turn and markers so I could get rid of the turn signals under the bumper.

The lights are different sizes, old runner to new, truck to runner IIRC.

Not surprised on the holes, but that is an easy fix.

I can't really tell, but is the bumper itself square/true? If it is made with right angles, you should be able to only adjust holes. Not surprising on something mass produced.

About time you got something decent looking on the nose of that thing!

It will be good once I get it aligned and deal with the lights. I plan on having tube added to the top bar for added protection....kinda like this..

The lights are really kinda easy to do. It was sort of a really cheezy way to do it but, I just took my dremel and cut the light socket bucket of the back of the old rectangular turn sigs and then cut a hole in the back of the marker and jb weld the buckets to the marker and you got it. Very visible from the front and side and work great. Hope this helps !

Good idea, that is what I have.

Baby stinger to keep the radiator, I have axles to keep me out of the corners, but I doubt the wrap would hurt.

Well I used a larger drill bit and drilled right through the mounting plate and internal welded nuts and then used new bolts and snaked the nuts in through the frame holes and zipped it down.

I do have to say that I am very envious of both you and Flyg's SAS.

damn, that sucks marc... tweaking it looks to be fairly simple though. oh, i finally found the write-up for the combo turn signal/parking lights mod that i did a while back: http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/...nal/index.html there aren't any pics anymore, but the info is there. definitely add some protection up top for the radiator and corner lenses. i'm kinda partial to mine... you've seen it, it's a lot like Adrian's.

I like your bumpers, but I wanted to stick with tube to match my rear bumper and sliders.

That pretty much is they way they all are. What All-Pro does is builds one prototype and then goes around the LA area and says "how much" for 1,000 of these. The lowest bidder get the job and then they have 1,000 bumpers that don't quite fit right.

That is what they do. Andy their old fabricator told me all about this that week I spent up in Fresno years ago. He works at Marlin Crawler now and then. This was before Geiger so you could go into the shop and hang around.

The hoops man, just the hoops.

Apparently 4RunnerKid and myself have taste in our bumpers, but that doesn't mean we can't try to save you!

Yeah, my Marlin rear bumper is off in a few places as well. Sucks, but it should be fixable. Question: those turn signals, are you using ONLY the corner lenses? Seems like you wouldn't see them too well unless it was really dark out. If I were you, I just get some 1st gen Runner turn signals to make it work.

Cheers

Dave

Marc that sucks man...hope you get it worked out...

The turn signals are much smaller from the first to the second gen.

To fix the angles, find some ricer, and then ram him, at a slow rate of speed, should bend it back up to the right angle.
