I am planning to go with the toytec 3 inch ome lift kit with diff drop, also thinking of doing a 1-2 inch body lift. I think 285 75 16s would be a good size tire or 295 75 16s, am I overdoing it with a 2 inch body lift for that size tire? Im not sure if I am going to keep the stock 98 limited wheels or not on the runner.

no, my 1" has some running issues with 295's 2" would prolly help alot more

 

Andy is running about 3" suspension and 1" body and he doesn't rubb after just a little trimming if I understand correctly.

 

Heres the 99 on 325/60/18 Dick Cepeks. Its got a 3" Toytech lift and 2" RB body lift.

 

A 3" Toytec plus a 2" 4Crawler body lift will more than clear 285's or 295's. The only issue you may come into contact with is the front tires rubbing on the upper a-arms. There are a few options. Sonoran Steel sells shaved a-arms, or you can go with a less backspaced rim. Search around, you'll see a lot of different things that guys have done.

 

Take a look at steves lift kits as well. a little different than the toytec ome setup. and the 3" in hte front might pose some premature cv wear issues.

 

I've got a Daystar 2.5 OME set-up and my 285/75/16 Toyo Mt's rub a tiny bit at full crank and I have minor shaved arms and a little fender trimming too! I also have 33's on 18's that just totally drag on the upper arms so I was thinking 2in RB bl too. Good luck with your choice and post opicks I'd like to see what you came up with!

yes. I had 2 spacers on mine for a week (instead of 1), and the extra 1/2" was very noticeable and made the cv's unhappy.

 

Damn, I was under the impression that with the diff drop in front it would be perfectly fine.

CVs isnt the only problem with 2 spacers, which im running right now, it gives you hardly any down travel because at full droop, the balljoints will lay themselves on the coils, could rip a boot off the BJ too. makes steering feel loose. and I even thought about putting a third set in but im not gonna bother.

 

Well I could leave out the top out spacer so it would only be 2.5 inch and then still do the diff drop.

what about just the 3" lift with diff drop? can you clear 33's w/ that?

 

i had 285's on LC wheels w/ ~2.5" of susp lift. only had to trim parts of my Limited fender flares, and running board end caps when they were on. had no issues rubbing, except for full stuff in the back. if youre running the stockers, you may have rubbing issues. if you dont plan on buying new wheels, get a 1/4" spacer to clear your A arms. some have had issues with stockers on 285's...while others have not. i think Ric had 285's on stockers w/ spacers..might want to ask him about that setup. otherwise, id get 4.5" BS'd wheels, and not worry about it.

i then put on a 1.5" 4crawler BL...and of course still no rubbing in the front.

jdizzy: bodylifts will NOT help clear your tires off the control arms. either spacers, shallower backspacing on your wheels, or shaved/TC/AP/Camburg arms.

do the diff drop. its easy and cheap, plus it keeps your CV's in a happy working range.

 

Will I be able to keep the stock wheels or will I have rubbing problems with the upper a arms? Can 295s be run safely on a 16x7 wheel? I was thinking about keeping the stock wheels and running the wabfab spacers if necessary.

i have a the toytec 3" lift and a 2" rb body lift and 34x12.50's i hade to do a little triming but it doesnt rub now

 

My dilema is that I have very fresh tires on my wheels now, im not sure if I should get new rims/tires or just put new tires on the stock wheels.

If I could find some LC wheels for cheap I wouldnt mind doing that but I am on a budget.

Shop around..there seems to be deals out there. I got all of mine for $200.00 shipped (from california) to the east coast.
