Exclamation Finding a cheap Catalytic Converter in SoCal

I just failed my smog test because I forgot that since my truck overheated leading to me replacing the head gasket, it ruined my cat. Luckily I went to a place that is "pass or dont' pay" and I can go at it again for free. Anyhow, I need a replacement cat cheap and quickly here in sunny Southern California. I am willing to order off the net or drive to San Diego.

Thanks in advance.

Call some local muffler shops...they can provide reman cats, or sometimes rebuild yours. Junkyards can't sell them anymore.

Define cheap.. Aftermarket cats cost around $60 for non-OEM.

The perfect cat is found at jegs racing.com, not sure about the link online.
perfect price on parts and free shipping if over 100$
I bought a 3 chamber for 50 bucks after I failed a smog test and installed it myself. It burns so clean after installing their cat it makes water out the end of my exhaust pipe, I think thats pretty good for the environment.
I live in redlands CA so smog restrictions are up there and know how you feel.

From what I understand, It's getting to be pretty common to just crawl under someone elses truck and cut the cat off.

Here in Moreno Valley, Raceway Muffler has them. Not too bad on the price and mine has passed smog twice now.

Nice to see other people supporting board members.
I shipped mine via USPS for around $25.

Hey guys thanks for all the help.
With all your tips, I checked the net, then called around and found the best price was to just have a shop supply the cat and install it too. I paid $145 installed. Did it just today and only took about an hour or so right in Temecula.

I certainly won't post stuff like that on a forum.

or look for all toyota lexus dismantling (or something close to this)
energy way chula vista. They both are toyota only wreckers. They both will have cats in their yards.
If they are, in fact, selling used cats, someone will probably eventually go to jail for it.

As I posted earlier...you can NOT get used cats at the junkyard anymore. Like others have posted, get an aftermarket one from a muffler shop.

You can run catless here in the county in washington i live, only because no one will check your rig. We dont have smog tests here. However shops won't work on a truck that doesnt have a muffler or cat and isnt planning on putting new ones on....

Lot of people run catless where I live tho I hope to throw a new one on soon since mine is 20yrs old and the brackets and cat are rusted as one unit now... :/
