I took a road trip through CO this past summer, Ric's right, I'd move there. We stuck mainly to the paved roads (I did not have my 4Runner yet and we were in our Civic). but we did a big loop starting in SW CO near CO national Monument, up north to Dinosaur, east through Steamboat Springs, further east over the rockies (Rocky Mtn Nat Park (awesome)), then down SW again through the Maroon BElls through Aspen and down through Durango and Mesa Verde.
We live in AZ so this road trip took a while and we did no camping (sad). I wanted to camp in Dinosaur Nat Park, there is some wilderness area that is 4wd only. There is a camp site there that is supposed to be pretty sweet. Check this out.
Of course this is in the NW corner of CO (some of it's actually in Utah. Have Fun!

What part of CO? All over, or a particular destination? and hello fellow Mo person.
I really liked Ouray to Engineer pass and then over to Silverton, we camped between Silverton and Ouray, off the million dollar highway. I also liked...I think it was Weston Pass, then over to Mosquito Pass for a loop and we camped at Turquoise lake near Leadville. Ouray to Engineer was my favorite of the very little that we were able to do.
My truck is stock with Michelin highway tires. There's so much there, I wish we'd had time for more exploring. I'm taking notes too, guys, for next time....so cough it up, where is the good stuff?
