where is this thing located on a 1990 truck. thanks

Most are near the blower. Once you drop the blower, you should see it.

As mentioned, near the blower. Easy way to find it, as mentioned on the page above, is to follow the wiring from the motor to where it terminates at the firewall/air duct:
