hey i just bought a 97 4Runner w/ a 3.4 V6 and wanted to know if ther is an easier way to get to the oil filter

 

Easier than what?

I think most guys turn the wheels all the way to the left and go in throught the wheel well to get it.

in nc i just have my learners permit but my parents bought me a car so i could get used to it i will be 16 in sept.

 

so the school lets you park in their lot with just a learners permit? (assuming you do drive to school since you mentioned having the nicest car at school)

 

Wow, that's cool. If I can remember back that far, I think I still needed a licensed driver in the car when I'd drive with my permit.

Come to think of it, I think my fiance once told me that you could get a learners permit at 14 in Iowa.

 

Yeah, here in Arizona, you have to be 15 and 7 months (i think) to get a learners permit, and you are required to have a lisenced driver over the age of 18 with you.

 

I think the same was true in Texas and some other States. You can drive farm equipment on roads at 14 if you are a farmer.

Same here you have to drive w/ a liscends driver over 18 . i ride with my twin cousins and one of them does not have a 1st period and the other does not have a 4th period and to keep one of them from driving us to school and bring us home i let them drive my car as long as i am with them

 

Changed my oil last night. Easiest way is to take off the skid plate and get your hands dirty. Put a drip pan at the end of the second skid plate, I garantee oil will come pouring off of it once you break the filter loose.

 

ya that's what I don't get, I thought Toyota oil filters where anti-drain back type filters? So why do they drip?

 

They are. But when you unscrew it, it releases the "drain" and the oil pours out. Not to mention that its at a 45 degree downward angle! Piece of crap. Good thing my garage floor is coated, or I would be one pissed off shadetree mechanic.

 

My buddy Scott told me that in Texas you can get a hardship license if you can prove that you work and go to school. You can drive alone at 15 years old. He is from West Texas.

 

I have the nicest car at my school at my age, too. Well, the nicest red '90 4Runner w/ an auto...hey it's something at least!

 

That's a bit of a low blow. Its not his fault he didn't pay for his car.... Please be nice.

The strobe lights mentioned in the signature probably are his fault. What purpose do they serve??

well to tell the truth mom and dad did pay for it but i have to pay them back for half of it i still owe 6,000

 

and i have had a job at a hardware store for about a year now so im almost there
