A340h Ect Help
My 86 4runner Is Starting Out In 3rd Sometimes 4th Gear ,i Manually Shift My Auto And I Have Tested A Lot Of The Electrcal All Exept The Trans/transfer Thermo Switch Sensor... Could That Thing Cause The Solenoids To Not Lock Up??? I Know It Wont Upshift 3rd To O.d... Without Warming Up The Tranny Oil To A Certain Temp.the Reason Im Asking This Is The Damn Thing Works Fine Once In A While. But Not Until The Tranny Heats Up Ive Pulled Codes 61,62 But I Dont Think Its The Solenoids Can They Be Intermiden??? I Have Not Checked The Speed Sensors Yet.can Anyone Help Me???. I Could Sure Use It Im No Mechanic. Thanks...

I used the solenoids out of a jeep. they have the same "read VERY similar" auto tranny. I got them from a u-pull-it junk yard for $6, $2 each. bolt right in and the connections are the same. Their overall size is a little bigger though. They work great, and its awsome not to haft to shift manually and start out in 2nd or 3rd.

THRASHER:
The ECU uses the coolant temp to determine upshift to OD and torque convertor lock-up. Verify that your Coolant temp sensor wires are not corroded.
Shift solenoids can be NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed) be careful when purchasing from a recycler that you get the right ones that you need. FWIW I had shift problems with mine code 61 I think. I removed the shift solenoid and re-soldered connections, tested on the battery and it worked. Re-installed and it has been good ever since.
