California 3.4 swap parts source needed

My '94 blew the head gasket at 226K. The V05 recall was done a long time ago.
By the time I deal with everything to repair this, I can do a 3.4 swap for not much more effort.

I live in San Luis Obispo county. The boneyards here don't have much choice.

Does anyone from the Los Angeles or Orange County area have any recommendations as to a source for a 3.4, manual trans setup for a 3.4 swap?

I have the cash now.

From: Los Osos, CA (we can't agree on crap!)
Bummer, when you do start your swap, look me up and I would be glad to give you a hand.

From what I've seen TAP buys up all the Toyota bones in CA. But beware of their customer service (or lack there of). I hear refunds or exchanges are harder to get than a date with the prettiest girl in school, even if they send you the wrong part and its their fault. Consider yourself warned.

Cheapest deal will be on ebay, might not be the most convenience place to shop but a lot of ppl do this.

I have no problem with TAP. i have gotten many parts from them. We always talk to one person though. Hector. he is a good guy and always helps us out. The Yard is in Rancho

Try Cal mini

I traveled 2 hrs to go to a trusted and knowledgeable wrecking yard. I purchased a 3.4 from a 2000 tacoma 4x4 5spd. I got to check out the motor while it was still in the truck and I went ahead and bought the motor along with everything that is recommended to complete this swap. I also bought a 2WD 5spd trans and many other tedious items.

The staff is still very helpful and interested in the swap.

Call them up, its nice to talk to someone that knows a lot about Toyota's.

(909) 622-1381 Ask for Troy.

I can travel north or south. The south Bay area is closer than LA.

Please post any recommendations you may have. That will help make this thread handy for the next time someone searches for similar info.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Any comments as to a fair price for the 3.4 conversion package?

ORS says 2-3k. Is that realistic if I can show up with a pickup truck, tools, and a bundle of benjamins?
