temperature gauge doen't work.

That's the temp sender for the ECU.. I could be wrong here, as I know the earlier EFI system better.. On the pre 88.5 systems, the temp sensor for the gauge is in the lower plenum, middle of the plenum, next to the head on the top side... basically middle of the valve cover, go over to the passenger side of the valve cover - straight down. single wire deal. It rarely goes dead, but the wire might get unplugged.

first pull the plug from the temp sender and find something to ground it out with. ground it out and turn the key on make sure the gauge goes all the way up. if it does then your wiring and gauge are fine.. swap out the temp sender. i have a weird problem with mine but its the gauge. i can tap the cluster and it will start working..

Don't do that unless you'd like a burnt up temperature gauge.
Ground it through a test light or some other resistor, otherwise you're not limiting the current flow in that circuit.
It probably won't short immediately, but holding it grounded is a bad idea.

its just for a sec and wont hurt the gauge..
