I'm replacing the lower control arm cam bolt bushings, and putting them back in was a pain.

There are two washers that go on the ends of the bushings, between the bushing end and the frame. I can only get one in on each side. These new bushings are polyurethane, and pretty durable.

The question i have is: Can I live without the other bushing with out causing issue with alignment? Baisically, do these washers in any way affect the ability of the front to hold alignment?

I've had my lower A-arms off but that was a year ago and I can't remember exactly what I saw on the two ends of the arms.

If im on the same page here, I'd install one A-arm and if it has play back n forth (front to rear, rear to front) or any play then it's gonna be weak. the lower arm shouldnt have any play. ... obviously. IF it fits snug I probably wouldnt worry about it. My IFS is so 'effed up it's probably 10x more unsafe than what you're worried about and I've never had an A-arm .. i guess u called them cam bolts budge. Surprisingly.

 

Might as well also mention to torque the crap out of those adjusting bolts. It's the biggest pain in the arse torqueing those down ... thats where you wish you had a truck hoist so you could stand and put real leverage on them. Or if you got a air impact gun, good time to use it =)

 

Washers are essential..they keep the bushings aligned and in place especially poly bushings..without the washers they will slide off the pin and cause alignment problems...They brace against the center pin keeping the bushing in place ...Keep them on for dear life

 

Washers need to go in. You won't be able to align the front end with them missing.
