I'm looking around for seats and it's getting tougher to find in my area. What other seats can I try to hunt for that won't require major mods?

 

I want to replace the bench seat in my '87 with buckets. Be great to find a good pair of 4runner bolt ins, but you only end up finding seats more worn than my bench!

Those aftermarket seats are freakn expensive!

 

I have a set of 90 Integra seats I'm about to put in mine. They are similar dimensions but I'm gonna have to make brackets for them (I don't want to drill any more holes so if I find a nicer set of seats I can still swap them out).

 

I have a set of 89-95 gray adjustable buckets I've been on the fence about selling for a while, I know this isn't a for sale thread, just throwing it out there.

 

If you didnt live in Mass. I'd buy em! Shipping to Washington would be rediculous

I put in Prelude seats. the fronts bolted in fine, the rear set needed spacers and a hole drilled. Took me about an hour to bugger weld (don't have a proper power set up in the garage yet) a couple brackets on and run to Napa to get a couple longer bolts to bolt them in.

Got he seats at the pick n pull for about 35$

 

im lookin for some buckets to replace my bench seat, im not a big fan at all, i dont even care if they are the same color, im gonna put covers on anyway. 91 pickup if anyone has any ideas, sorry for the thread jackage, but it went along with the topic.

 

Would it be too much trouble to ask for some pics of the seats and how you bolted them up? I'd be curious because back in '95 I had Prelude seats in my 1991 extra cab, and I have no pictures or memory of how they looked. I am thinking of switching out my Eclipse buckets for something a little smaller for my std cab. Thanks

Here are the 89 prelude seats I put in. I chose to make new front mounts and a rear mount (Z shaped-you can barely make it out in the pic) The fourth hole by the center console was just as Reggie said, new hole and a spacer.

Be warned if you haven't worked with metal before I don't recommend making new brackets. If you do, use as heavy a gauge steel as you can and shake the truck by holding the seats when you are done. (completely unscientific, I know-you may get some small amount of movement at the sliders depending on the age and quality of the seat anyway)

Also, please use the highest grade bolts when attaching any fabricated parts to the seat rail. Remember, the seats and seat belt are the only thing holding you in!

Don't cut corners on this install, it's your life you're playing with if you do!

Damn I just realized I gave up free celica seats. I guess I was still hoping for a 60/40 bench.

Thanks for the compliments, I really needed to do it. The old seats made the truck feel like a lowrider. (the opposite of what most of us are after!)

 

i got a good one for you all i have a set of seats from my old 1990 mitsu eclipse gsx that i welded in but a set of any honda from 88 to 92 i think just bolt right in with only the part of having to drill holes for the back bolts cause thats what was in my truck when i got it

 

I have a set of Recaro's in my 87 pickup from a 2nd gen jdm Hilux Surf, they bolted right in. They're awesome seats, a lot firmer and I sit up a little higher. I also had a 1st gen. runner with 3rd runner seats, but the brackets had to be changed modded to fit.

 

I've got an 88 standard cab and just recently replaced the bench seat with buckets from a 2002 Honda Civic. Had to enlarge the bolt holes on the seat brackets a little but three of the four holes then lined up with the stock locations. Only had to drill one hole in the back for each seat. I then had enough room to put in a small center console from a Jeep. Check Ebay if you don't have a local source for seats. Got both of the Civic seats in really good condition for $50. Console was $25.

 

You can get recaro seats from 87-92 vw gti's and gli's. Recaro sells brackets for there seats for everything. I'm sure you can get them for toyotas.

 

That's an awesome install. I'm hitting the salvage yards tomorrow for some prelude seats. Thanks for the insipiration.

My driver's seat won't stay in the full upright position and that's how I drive, plus both seats are really worn out. I like those prelude seats.

Anybody do anything else?

Anybody have mastercraft seats their yotas?

 

I want to replace mine, but I want to stay with a bench as I got a 4 year old and a girlfriend and don't want to use the 3rd seat. The support bar that runs from one side to the other behind the seat is a kidney killer. Stupid thing is I like the look of the factory seats. Looks like buckets from the outside.
