oil pump or oil gauge out?

oil pump or oil gauge out?

how often does either of these go out on a 95 4runner with a 3.0. im not getting any reading on my oil gauge and im getting a gear grinding noise coming from the engine when i start it up. haven't run it since this started yesterday morning. this is my daily driver and any help would be great.

Check Your Oil Level! Seems Like Several People Are Having This Problem Havnt Heard Any Definatly Closure On Any Of Them Yet Hmm...

an oil pump going out on a 3.0 would be rare. Not saying impossible, but rare. There really isn't much there to fail.

yea, compression test failed, so i guess that goes to say that the oil pump can go out wenever it wants. it went out pretty early though with just 158,000.

wow that would be interesting....what would cause all 6 to loose compression?

He didn't confirm or deny.. Regardless, a bad ring may or many not be the result of an oil pump failure.. It'd be pretty hard to lose all 6 cylinders and still have the thing turn over. Bend a bunch of valves, maybe...

I'm with you guys, an oil pump failure isn't likely... Maybe a component failed resulting in an internal leak = no pressure.. Could be a bearing, a crack...

Let us know what it is if you tear it down.
