Green wire with red stripe? Still dinging!

From some reading here, I thought that was the one to cut to stop the dinging. pulled the fuse panel on the dash and looked at the clump of like 100 wires plugged in. Sure enough there was the green and red one. I cut it but NOTHING happend. Whats up? What do you think that one goes to if not the dinger?

Dont worry! Today someone pulled out in front of me and the horn didnt work. I have never needed my horn more. Geez, can't believe yall didn't know that! doesn't everyone cut wires aimlessly in hopes that it stops what you want it to?

dont worry about the horns there not the best thats why i changed mine to louder ones also theres a write up some where on disabling the buzzer but it looks like you have to take out the guage cluster

if you cut all wires it should stop dinging. Might come with some side effects though.

on my '87 pu theirs a button/trigger in the door jam that signals the dome light and buzzer (if your keys are still in the iggy) ... i just unplugged the button, no dome light but bah... for a quick buzzer-be-gone mod... works for me =)

You have to take out the instrument cluster to gain access to the buzzer, then simply take a needle and poke a small hole in the diaphram, an alternative is to take some teflon tape and stuff it into the buzzer muffling it.

Ok, so I went under my dash (02 Tacoma) and suprise, suprise. I have 2 green/red striped wires under my dash. I found 1 Dark green/red stripe and 1 Lite green/red stripe.
NOT wanting to cut the wrong one I pulled the Lower dash piece under the steering wheel. This is held together by 1 screw and 4 bolts and it also holds the Hood release.
Once I had this unscrewed/unbolted I could see the Ignition switch that the key goes into completely. I found that the Lite green/red striped wire was routed to a white clip holding three other wires also that clipped into a recepticle going into the ignition switch.
I had the key set to ACC and dinging like crazy. I cut the LITE GREEN/RED STRIPE wire. PRESTO!!! NO MORE DING!
I then turn the key to the ON position and it started dinging again. For those Of you who aren't sure about cutting the right wire like I was its the Lite Green/Red stripe. I then used small amount of Electric Tape and taped off both ends. I hope this helps out those who aren't sure about cutting the wire.
By the way I couldn't find any Blue clip under my dash anywhere. I chased Both wires to no aveil. I only found white ones.

I'm not too sure what exactly you're trying to do, but it sounds like this post might be of great use to you.

I'll add here that after doing that "mod" I haven't noticed any negative effects thus far, and it's been almost 4 months of every day driving. Door buzzer doesn't bother me, but if I leave my headlights on, it makes that obnoxious noise. My dome lights work, no problems. Give it a try.
