Used 3.4 Supercharger that needs parts

I found a used supercharger but it needs all the parts. It's basically only the charger with the pulley installed. Do you think it's worth it for $500 and how much do you think it would be for the rest of the parts? He says it has less then 25k miles on it and pulled it off in 2001. He moved a few times and lost everything else. Who knows if you can believe that story! It's also the gray version.

Without knowing the history behind it, the most I would pay would be $300 assuming you need to buy everything and have it rebuilt before you can use it. Also keep in mind you're gonna need alot more money for fuel/timing/tranny mods to keep that S/C running as it should be.

Mine was purchased that way (i.e. supercharger only). If in doubt - plan on having it serviced. Haveing said that you're only 200$ or so in parts from having a complete supercharger kit. So I'd say the 500$ is worth it. however, do think about whether you're willing to cobble together the system. Do you have a secondary vehicle to drive when you can't find a 1/8, 5/16", 3/16" tee (or something odd like that)? How frustrated will you be when your parts don't match the install instructions (let alone when you don't have those parts - so don't know whether to go get them or skip the step).

I got my 1st gen SC running with gadget's Gen1 diagram and the gen 2 install manual. It was fairly iterative and frustrating (with me at the end of the day saying "doh - that should've taken 45 minutes").

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If I could get it for $300 and figure on another $300 in parts I'd probably go for it. Plus I'd want to do some other upgrades to go with it.

Since I did the deckplate mod and installed a trueflow air filter, the truck has good enough power. There's always room for improvement but if I want to go fast I hop on my motorcycle. It's all about power to weight!

It may be best to leave everything be and don't mess with a good thing.
