92 v6 gear ratios

I was wondering if anyone has the codes for what gear ratio it would have. I have a 92 v6 4x4 5 speed manual 4runner sr5. It came with 28" factory tires and I am running 31" tires. I'm guessing it either had 4.10 or 4.30, so thinking either way 4.56 would be good, but was wondering if anyone knew to make sure? thanks.

Factory for V6, MT, 31's was indeed 4.56.

If you're ever thinking about going bigger though, I would do 4.88's

elockers came mostly with 4.10's, some have 4.30's

"Special" 4.88's came with the V6, automatic, and 31" tire package. They are thicker than normal and there are no aftermarket replacements. Maybe that's what you're thinking of...

At 70MPH, my truck is right at 3000 RPM in 5th with 33's and 4.88's, just on the bottom of the power band. The truck actually "likes" to be revved a little (it hates being lugged).

Well, this would usually have a 4:30 or 4.56. 456 came stock with the larger tires and MTM, 430's witht he smaller tires and MTM. But a axle code would reveal it. Look on your door jamb for the axle code. It will look like:

C/TR/A/TM

and you will see:

030/F41/G285/R150F

Means your axle code is "G285"

Mine came with the 4.56's and it's the same year and set up. I know that the auto trans runners came with the 4.88's after 92 I believe. Once you find your axle code you can get the rest of the info from a toyota specs web sight. Good luck!! And if your going to increase your tire size, I would recommend 4.88's and do a locker in there as well. Best mod I have made so far to my 92 runner. OH, just a suggestion, wouldn't do 5.29's in a 4runner, unless your planning on sticking with a tire no wider than 10.5, more than that you will start breaking pinion gears do to the weight of the runner and the tires getting that much traction. Just my 2 cent's though.
